Hypocritical Hieroglyphical
(Say That 10 Times Real Fast)
Wanna know one sure way to be a total hypocrite? Write a comment on your own blog saying that you don’t like using Lostpedia for your posts. One day later… you will be using it for your posts. Funny how that works.
Okay, so I think I may have totally cashed out our resident Egyptologist @edrafalko. Truth is, I have no idea whether we’ll have a Part 3. Ed’s got a lot going on right now, and I’m not being sarcastic by saying that.
So last night, I sat with the screen caps some more. I tweaked my sketches, and I began the process of transcribing as many of the glyphs as I could. At some point in my research I found myself at, you guessed it… Lostpedia. As you might imagine, they have their own chart of glyphs, many of which were transcribed by the mystical user Zholmboe. It’s not as extensive as Actually I just looked at that dudes profile and there are way more glyphs than the ones I saw on the Wiki Hieroglyph page. Holy!! Okay so now I’d say it’s as extensive if not more than the one from omniglot.com that I posted yesterday… but by using the two and a few other sources, I’ve pieced together a LOT of this hush puppy.
Check it… don’t wreck it…….. but I encourage you to step it (up).

The eye represents Richard Alpert’s eyeliner stash, which is *exactly* what lies beneath the shadow of the statue.

I would like to give credit to zholmboe at Lostpedia for all his hard work deciphering and transliterating the hieroglyphics on Lost. Hours have been spent in front of the computer manipulating screencaps as well as all the hours of learning hieroglyphics, “Book of the Dead” and comparing Cursive vs Hieroglyphic. I spent hours deciphering the glyphs in the Frozen Donkey Wheel and have assisted Zholmboe with the interpretations. He is not one for credit, and may not want the attention. Yet deserves some! Many awesome Lost fans spend hours at Lostpedia updating information for those who rarely appreciate it.
I am active on many Lost Forums and sites. Lostpedia is not perfect, but it is nice to have a place for reference when trying to make a point. And I appreciate the fans spending hours of their own free time helping update the site. So please don’t be so hard on us peons!!!
JohnCabrera… I am a huge fan. Visit your blog DAILY!! Link to you often.
Thanks for your hard work and help feeding us Lost Obsessives!!

LOL!! Kansas! I wasn’t trying to be hard on Lostpedia at all!! It’s an amazing site! How could anyone knock it?
I was being hard on myself. And rightfully so. The title of this post is totally self deprecating and in reference to my own hypocrisy… I had recently mentioned in a post’s comments that I rarely visit Lostpedia cause of actually how almost perfect it is. But sometimes it feels like reading the answers rather than cracking a mystery. I’m just talking about the Wiki, not the Forums. Never been in the forums there.
But for me, part of the fun of Lost theorizing is being wrong. Coming up with a terrific theory that you think is fool proof, and then it gets blown out of the sky. So I just found it funny that only one day after I said, “yeah, I don’t really go to Lostpedia for theory anymore”, I’m at Lostpedia totally using it to help me with a post… which is the way you all intended it to be used.
And since you come to my blog a lot, you know how much I love giving shout-outs in my posts. I would certainly have given Zholmboe credit if I’d known how much of that he did. After I exhausted omniglot.com and a few other random sites, I switched to Lostpedia for the rest, which was a good 1/3 of the total translation. I just never thought to check the history of the page, which I suppose I should have.
So I’m revising this post and giving that dude a mention whether he likes it or not. lol.
Please, don’t misinterpret my feelings about Lostpedia at all. I don’t consider anyone a peon. Although I know at least one forum where I’m considered an as$hat. lol.
Anyway, if you know of anyone else who’s read the post and has sore feelings, please let them know how I actually feel.

Thanks for giving props to Zholmboe. Funny how I have never met many of my fellow LOSTIES. But I have been discussing Religion, Physics, Quantum Physics, Ancient Egyptology and everything else from LOST for so long, I feel a kinship and find that we all stick up for each other. Like what happened with Erika at her Long Live Locke Blog.
I know how many hours of research Zhomboe has done and every once in awhile it is nice to get some credit.
YOU ROCK!
