Look, I’m not surprised that Ade went home. Honestly, he wasn’t that great last night… and say what you will about Evan, he really wasn’t horrible… or at least he didn’t drop any of his props. Bottom line: his fanbase is friggin enormous. In order for Ade to have stayed he needed to do something extraordinarily awesome and/or strange… like, I don’t know, maybe dance a contemporary solo to O Fortuna naked.
What I am surprised about is Kayla. I was SURE she was going tonight. I think she’s a great dancer, don’t get me wrong… she’s just been systematically placed in the bottom this entire competition… and I really think it’s her stage presence when she’s not dancing that’s doing it.
She always looks so nervous to me… and even in this last episode she seemed to be kind of begging for the win. No? “I’ve worked so hard to get here… you can’t imagine how hard I’ve worked… and I’ve worked even harder on the show.” And has anyone else noticed lately she’s been kind of amping up the “personality” with Cat… which basically means answering Cat very quickly and very loudly?
Not to mention what I call the “you killed my bitch, bitch!” phenomenon. It basically states that when a favorite contestant is voted off in a surprise, the fans of that contestant typically build resentment for the other bottom contestant who made it through. And the next week, they end up sending them home too, as if to say, “Thought you could get away with that, didn’t you, Chica?!!! Chica rubia!!!”
Ah well, personally, I think it’s the oddest final four to date. But I have NO idea what’s going to happen… so that’s good. Now I kinda want to see Evan win… just cause it would be so silly and weird. And at this point, I need something in this competition to wake me up.

Hahaha. That might be a little unfair to Brandon, given that he has consistently placed in the top throughout the entire competition, but still hilarious. Except I never got the impression that people really liked Ade. I was surprised when Jason went home before him since Jason seemed to have a bigger fanbase. Once he got past the judges and into the viewer voting, I was sure he’d make it to the final 4.
Melissa, on the other hand, I’m pretty sure the only things that saved her were getting great routines (or routines intended to pull at our heartstrings) on the nights where I was sure she’d be gone. I see more dislike for her online than I do for Kayla. Not that I see a lot of love for Kayla but it seemed like people actively wanted Melissa gone more than they wanted to keep Kayla.

ok, I gotto say… i am bummed that melissa was sent home.. i REALLY liked her and Ade too!!!
i am not too much of a fan of Kayla, I know she is a fav.. but even though she has great lines.. i just dont really see anything deeper in her as a dancer.
love evan.. he is just so charismatic and i also really think he has grown in the last few weeks.
brandon is pretty to look at, but i just dont see like he ever really struggles.. its like he has a golden pass or something.. and i have yet to feel he is being challenged. and ummm to have that body without EVER working out in your life.. .well its just not fair
Jeanine i think has really come out of her shell since Phillip was eliminated.. so I am rooting for her and evan as the last 2

ok, I didn’t see the results show, but you know from my bonus point guesses that I’m not totally shocked… I am sad about Melissa, though, because she’s really talented. but I thought she should’ve gone home a couple weeks ago. there was no way Brandon was going home after that solo, and if Evan did well enough in the group dance for you to give him praise (still haven’t seen that dance, darn it!) I figured he was going to be in the final four. I think Kayla and Jeanine are nice to have going into the final four, since they’re both (obviously) immensely talented and have very different personalities.
I’m so looking forward to seeing how it goes. really enjoyed getting into this show… you going to do another FDL for the next one?

I have a tendency to ramble on this blog, so I’ll keep it short this time and just say:
Boooooooooooooooooooooooo.
…and I hope Brandon wins.

Ditto what Chad said.

Arg! I’m SO SO SO.. upset!! I really, really picked that Ade would win. But then again, my initial pick was Kupono! LOL I’m obviously clueless..
But come on. The vast majority of his dances were SO strong, I can remember maybe… 2 dances at most when Evan got RAVE reviews, but the rest of the time he was always told that he needed to do a few things better..
ARG. I’m so angry..
And Melissa. Yes.. I guess that Kayla is younger, has more star quality but oh my goodness. So sad to see Melissa go.
So now… if I had to choose, I mean.. I *want* Jeanine to win but I think Brandon deserves it more. Slightly..

I had to catch up on the episodes because I have been on the road, but it finally clicked for me why Ade went home; he did not really understand how to work the camera. He’s immensely likable, but the pick was annoying to a lot of people, and after one of his routines where he tore it up, he was standing with Cat wearing a baseball cap that didn’t allow you to see his eyes. She actually tried to push it up because she could tell it was making him in accessible, and he tugged it down again, meaning he was clueless about how to play to the camera. Compare that to how Mark Kanemura and Chelsie last year figured out EXACTLY how to get just the right distance to the camera when off-stage so that they were able to create a kind of intimate eye-contact with us at home. If the producers gave these kids just a little coaching in this area, it’d make a huge difference.

ok, ok, everytime I remember what I want to say about this, I’m not near a computer! am at work, and supposed to be running out the door, but HAVE to get this down now or I never will!
I think the “you killed my bitch, Bitch” phenomenon was actually at work, here. see, Melissa only DIDN’T get into the bottom two that week because of that heart-tugging dance with Ade. HAD she been in the bottom two that week, SHE would have been the one to go home, not Janette. so, (stay with me, here, if you can…) America may have felt that resentment that some of us expressed at having been guilted into voting for Melissa and Ade, when Melissa’s performance that week was one of the weakest, and the result was that they sent her home the following week.
maybe.
what do you think?
