Woohoo at least I got both bonuses….
I think I was really thrown off by the judges and their ability to kick off whoever they wanted. I never would have had Bianca so high if she hadn’t been with Jakob….Argh! I suppose now I will have to make the best of it and predict all the bonuses

Okay. So I just re-read the Official Rules for probably the tenth time and I still can’t figure out why I’ve got a 5 under the Bonus column.
Oh wait! Is that a running total? Did I get 5 bonus points last week?

Man, I am really sucking so far this Lark. And I am putting way more effort into it then last time. Weird. Oh, and don’t worry, k8hinote, I am totally confused by the point system. I’m really just trusting John’s judgement on my score.

Ditto on the comment about the bonus points, I still don’t know how they work. Oh hell, I can’t even understand the math of the overall score, but like Kelseroo, I also trust John haha XD

Hey fellow Larkers! Please excuse the silence. Between my site getting hacked and some work I was trying to get done, I haven’t been able to focus much on the Lark since the show this week. Or twitter… or tumblr… or twinkler…
K8, I’m sorry about the confusion with the rules. The problem is that with the opening of the season being all over the place, I was making last minute changes to the rules to accommodate. So the rules are actually spread across a few different posts. And it’s going to get crazier, because I have some twists planned for when we get down to the final 10.
But basically it goes like this:
Week 1 we all made bonus picks before filling out our full cards. If you put either Ariana or Brandon, you got 6 points. If you submitted them both… 12. Now, for each one of them you got wrong, I gave you 2 points. I did that just because I didn’t think it was fair given how ridiculous the opening of the season was with people dropping out and getting sick at the last minute. I had no idea how many Larkers knew that Billy was out.
Anyway… if you didn’t choose Ariana or Brandon, you got 4 points (2 for each). And if you picked only one of them to go home, you got 6 for that correct answer and 2 for the incorrect one… 8. BUT….. then I added in an additional rule to balance things out even more. If either of the two people you chose to go home Week 1, ended up going home Week 2, I gave you a further extra point… kind of like ice cream money.
So in your case, you chose Bianca and Legacy to go home Week 1. Neither of them did. So I gave you 2 points for each: 4 points. But then in week 2 Bianca did go home… I gave you 1 point extra for that. And to clarify, that’s not an extra point because you also put Bianca in your Week 2 slot… but only because she was your Week 1 bonus.
Does that make sense?
This is not something I ever want to do again in the Lark, believe me. I just had to improvised to balance out the unfairness of people having to redo their picks at the last minute.

That makes perfect sense, as complicated as it was for you.
I just wanted to understand the score as it kept accumulating, so I’d know what to expect each week as we go, but I couldn’t figure out how I already had five bonus points. Now I get it. Thank you sir!
