I think you’re awesome, Lost.

No John, no! Don’t focus on that stuff! Righteous indignation, remember??
) during the finale? Yes, yes I did…but at the end I still wanted a name for MIB, I still felt confused at why the Island needs protecting and how the hell did that statue get there and all the other questions that are STILL lingering…
Did I go through an entire box of Kleenex (the lotion kind cuz I’m sensitive
Don’t lose sight of those!!
*clasps hands together* Please!!

They “Bobby Ewing”-ed us!! Remember how awful that was?? Bobby Ewing!!

I’m still reeling from all the anticipation of “the answers” and there weren’t any…ANY!!

I thought this was interesting, “I think that would be so unfair to our viewers. They’ve invested in this idea, and to cop out and make it something as stupid and simple as we’re all dead in purgatory or something, I think I’d get up and kick a hole through my television I’d be so pissed off.” -Evangeline Lilly, season 3 (http://www.lostblog.net/lost/tv/show/interview-with-evangeline)

i know man, i know. same here. it was all so sad.
but knowing how it ended sort of put the other island, scientific, philosophical, stuff on the ‘not important’ list. the entire six seasons was just an odd window into these peoples’ lives we witnessed live this ‘adventure’. yeah its sad that they did the whole time travel thing (especially ‘The Constant’) and had no way to explain it, other than the electromagnetic and crazy properties of the island.
i am left sad because of the sort of cop out they pulled but it was an emotionally rewarding finale.
and i am sad to see the characters go.

Aww man, Melissa, now I am really angry again. My friend Julie and I spent two full hours listing everything that was wrong — and I can only boil that down to “these fuckers violated every law of writing — including their own arbitrary rules — then forced a random non-denominational religous catch-all, feel-good/feel-bad ending to a show in which the final 10 minutes didn’t even match the 2.5 hour show (let alone 6 year series).” aka “what the shit was that?!” “yay, lapidus!” “I am going to find that smug little David cross looking guy and beat him up until I get some solid answers.” “REALLY? REALLY? THAT was the finale???
I’m kind of treating it like a breakup in which the dude was interesting and awesome and exciting for 5 years, got annoying and kind of creepy the last year and turned into a total cliche whiney douchebag at the very end. And now you’re pissed bc you invested ALL THiS TIME and he was just as lame as the rest of them.

The island needed to be protected because it housed Marcellus Wallace’s soul!!

Dang! So many haters! hehe.
I loved Lost. It will forever be one of the best shows in concept and execution.
And, I suppose I’m in a minority, but I loved the ending. I mean, sure they didn’t answer people’s questions like “What is the island?”, “Why is the island?”, etc… but honestly, I don’t care.
They wrapped it all up to the perspective of the primary characters in the show… and we as viewers were along for the ride From Their Perspective.
I like the mystery. I like the debating. I’m satisfied with the things they did answer, as well as the mysteries they left alone. I’m a huge fan of David Lynch and Stanly Kubrick for the Exact same reasons.
Great show. Great ending. There is an avalanche of movies and tv shows bombarding us with stories bundled up in neat little packages with definitive plots, and endings. We need to appreciate and hold up the one’s that do not.
I am grateful for this series and anyone else with the guts to tell compelling stories left open to interpretation and perspective.
Lost tapped into your emotions, engaged your mind, and hopefully opened some doors for other film makers to follow with similar material made with a healthy budget. What more do you really want? Did Pulp Fiction suck because you never saw what was in the briefcase? Would Twin Peaks have been better if the story was laid out and summed up like a ‘Law and Order’ episode? …Not to me.
The series ending finalized the story of the characters we met in the pilot episode. For me, that is a satisfying ending and allows John to further expand on his spaceship theory!

Hey, if you go to EOnline, there is this chick who talks about LOST. She has inside info–like the MIB’s name is Samuel (not Esau as in Jacob & Esau who were, yep, twins). She said it was in the script and everything. I have no idea why they didn’t just use it. Weird. I had to watch the finale again to..sort of…understand it. I just wish they had told us what the island was!! I had to watch it to “get” that even though some people weren’t dead yet, they were with Jack at the end because “everyone dies some time–sometimes later than you”–so it’s like everyone meets in that one moment to go together. But, when did Jack really die? When the nuclear bomb went off? Did everyone die then? What the heck? Not everyone is dead–like Ben isn’t dead at the end, so how can he talk to those who ARE dead? HUH??? Weird! I didn’t like it.

I’m sorry but I have to say this…I hate when people say they were in purgatory…I hate it as much as when people misquote the Bible to fit their agendas. So to everyone saying they were in purgatory here is the definition…
“According to Roman Catholic doctrine, purgatory is a place or condition of temporary punishment meant to cleanse those destined for heaven but not quite ready for it. According to this doctrine, faith in Christ and acceptance of his saving grace gains one forgiveness for their sins, but not release from the punishment due for them. Thus in purgatory one is purged of their imperfections, much as silver in the fire sheds its impurities.”
This island was not a place of punishment hence it was NOT purgatory. End of rant.

Ehehehe John, I can’t wait for you to make the “depression” post, so you will finally arrive at the “acceptance” one, and we will be able to read your FULL comment
I can’t wait for that. C’mon, I need YOU to have get closure on this show.

So not right. Ruined six great years with that ending. It would have been a great ending for S7, you know, after the resolved a few basic plot issues and questions. Not everything, no. Leave a little something on the plate, by all means. But to walk away from dinner altogether and just eat the after-dinner mint? No way! We’re beyond hungry, we’ve been STARVED for six years! Yes the charachters were rich, yes the story lines were complex- but in my opinion, we’ve been smelling and taste-testing this meal for six years. We were told by the chef that it was going to be the best meal we’ve ever had. Certainly smelled like it was going to be delicious! We waited, and waited. And in the end the chef ate the meal himself, and gave us the mint.
Total cop out.
It was a cop-out. They’re all dead. That’s what they said they WOULDN’T do. And the “we didn’t say WHEN they died”, doesn’t cut it. The finale did not honor the series.

Do I still have questions…tons. Looking back though does it really matter what the MIB name was? No. Does it matter what the island was? No it just needed to be protected. This show was always a snapshot of life and was never a sugar coated show that ended perfectly and I felt the finale did that as well. The entire season was the characters coming to acceptance of their life on the island and their own deaths. The finale ended beautifully. I do feel like one of the 3 people who actually enjoyed the finale…I was outraged at first but then I accepted it and I think I understand where they wanted it to end.

Don’t feel sad. This is why God made DVD’s.
