The Lark Rules (or at least it tries its best) Pt. 1

Okay, so we’ve got a few new rules coming up in The Lark dealing with specialty items and unfortunately new twists in the show itself. I’ve decided to hammer out all of these rules a day early. Partly because I want to give everyone time to absorb them… but also, I guess, because it’s become instinct for me to write these posts the day after I watch the show, and since I saw tonight’s episode yesterday live……. hehe….. is there a little bit of bragging in this paragraph? You betcha! Ha!

This episode was amazing live, so I’m excited to see how it translates in the edit. It will definitely inform some of my theories about how the show is presented vs the way it really is.

Anyway, let’s get into all of these upcoming rules, shall we? As much as I’d rather not rework things, this show is once again forcing me to do so.

There’s another crazy snag this season that relates to how people are voted off the show. I had a feeling there was something up when they said the winner would be announced next week. Well I learned last night during the live taping that this is the first (and I’m assuming last) season where there will be a Top 6 rather than Top 4. *sigh* Meaning the last episode of the Season (which is next Wednesday) will rank the Final 6 from 1st to 6th place. It’s lame, I know… but clearly, it has to do with holiday scheduling.

This will, unfortunately, affect Lark gameplay. Since it is unclear whether they will allow the Top 6 to be in any order, or whether 5th and 6th place will have to be a girl and a guy… the Lark will have to compensate. Which means that OUR 5th and 6th place will have to be the lowest ranking girl and guy, regardless of the SHOW’S Top 6 order… and the our Top 4 will be reordered to account for that. Example:

Let’s say that the Top 6 looks like this:

1 Jakob
2 Ashleigh
3 Legacy
4 Russel
5 Ellenore
6 Ryan

Then there’s no problem, as Ellenore and Ryan will simply go into the 5th place pair on our card. BUUUUT if the Top 6 looks like this:

1 Jakob
2 Ashleigh
3 Legacy
4 Ellenore
5 Russel
6 Ryan

… then Ellenore, although she is technically in the Top 4, will as the lowest ranking girl, drop down to the 5 position for the purposes of The Lark. Russel will move into her slot. In this case as well, Ellenore and Ryan will be in the 5th position slot.

I hope this makes sense.

I’m breaking all of these rules into separate pages because I know a lot of information can be overwhelming. So if you need to spend more time with the above changes before moving on to section 2, by all means…
