My favorite piece from last night:
My least favorite piece from last night:
That being said… does anyone else find it ever so convenient that the show’s only point shoe flaunting ballerina, just happened to pick the show’s first ever ballet choreography?
And this is the 2nd week in a row that Caitlin and Jason got something out of the Barnes and Noble’s Sci-Fi section.
Fair?

You didn’t like the Nappy Tabs piece?!? I really loved it!

Tamika, I did too, it just wasn’t my favorite. I found myself watching the chain more than the dancing.

I also found Melissa pulling the ballet number a bit too convenient.
I sort of hesitate to mention this, but since the topic has come up…I believe that I’ve mentioned before that my friend’s brother was on the first season of the show. Well, her brother was doing pretty good on the show and had received some great responses from the judges, but the week he was sent home, the choreographer didn’t really give him and his partner much choreography. After learning to rely so much on the choreographers from week to week, they floundered and were sent home. Interesting how that happened. Anyway, I’ve been hoping (and for the most part think) things have changed since the first season, especially with the choreographers becoming more invested as well, but I’m sure there are still ways that the powers-that-be can try to manipulate things into happening the way they want them to.

I didn’t see the part where she drew ballet, I just figured they gave it to them because she can dance in point shoes. Doesn’t really bother me, either way. Perhaps because it’s my favorite team.
If people get bent about it, I guess an argument could be made for show/fan favorite Phillip pulling Hip Hop after struggling, badly, the past couple weeks.
I didn’t mind the dancing for the Caitlin/Jason number, but the costumes were cheesy. She is a much better dancer than he is. I can’t see Jason lasting much longer.

I loved NappyTabs’ piece – the chain was distracting, and I was distracted in thinking oh someone might fall.. but uh; I guessed NappyTabs would pick Love Lockdown with one clue.
I. Am. RAPT. (I win stuff!) I’m still kinda giddy, even with no prizes the fact that I guessed that it was a song they *should* do. Love it.
I’m really not liking the Brian Friedman pieces.. just.. no. TOO out there; and he might be the ‘kiss of death’ that the quickstep was.
That being said, I think (without knowing who got voted off at this stage) that Vitolio still hasn’t shown how apparently goofy he is.
Also; I’m really really loving that Kupono is doing so well. I had a worry that I was a bit toooo optimistic with my pick as him being the winner… but I LOVE him.

I do think the pas de deux was rigged, but still loved it:-) Unfortunately for Jason and Kaitlin, sometimes the choreography can be so out there that people make their judgments based on the choreography, not the dancing. I think their dancing was very good, despite the strange choreography. I’m hoping they can stay longer, and get the chance to perform a more mainstream routine.

As I was watching the show I was wondering about the “randomness” of it all…there kept being mention of “pulling names out of the hat”. Are they implying that partners were made that way? that doesn’t seem like the right way to do that, and I don’t think they did it that way either. Are we to believe that Evan and Randi being put together was a coincidence? Height-wise and dance wise they just seem to be a perfect pair. Ade and Melissa were my favorites too but I think that is b/c I have a blooming classical ballet dancer in my house

They did a ballet piece last year and neither of the two who picked it were trained in ballet and it was still amazing so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t rigged, just a great coincidence.
