Whew!
Okay.
Long day.
I have some good news and bad news. Bad news is… a little more waiting. Not on the launch of the series. Don’t worry, our (yet to be announced) date is still “soon as hell”. But we’ve collectively decided to move these screenings back a few weeks. Here are some of the reasons why this is VERY GOOD NEWS:
1) It think a realization sort of hit the collective team that you don’t begin pushing a big publicity screening one week before.
2) We have Comic Con coming up, and H+ should have a presence there this year.
3) We have a big holiday right around the corner.
So now the dates are:
July 9th in Los Angeles, 7pm @ Warner Bros. 4000 Warner Blvd., Screening Room 5 (entering through Gate 4).
July 16th in New York, 7pm @ Time Warner Center (entering on 58th street between 8th and 9th Ave.)
July 17th in San Francisco, 7pm (TBA… I’ll probably know that tomorrow.)
If you are interested in attending any of these screenings, you’re going to need to RSVP by emailing me at:
john AT johncabrera DOT com
“Oh no! I have to actually contact you directly? But I like to just read your blog in anonymity.” Sorry, not this time. You want to see this screening, you gotta engage with me. Don’t worry, I don’t bite. I’m a lover not a biter.
Make sure the subject says “Screenings” and that in the body of the email you tell me the screening you want to attend and your full name as it appears on your ID. They’re gonna be checking IDs at the gates, so you’ll need to bring it with you to the event. (Please read my comment below.)
EDIT: This is the only way to RSVP. I will be sending people confirmations as well as emails letting them know if they have been placed on the waiting list by no later than July 1st.
These venues have limited seating, so please don’t RSVP just to save a spot. I realize things can come up last minute, but do have some sense that you can make it. I will likely have to cut it off eventually, since much of the seating has already been reserved for press. At that point, I’ll be placing people on a waiting list. Don’t hate me if that happens to you… or because I’m beautiful (see below).
Comic Con will be the 13th-15th and as I said, we should be there representing H+ with some sneak peeks as well. That’s currently the plan… but things can always change. This post is a testament to that. I’ll have more details coming up within the week.
And as promised, this blog is gonna see a lot of activity over the next month regarding this series. It has found its purpose again. Anyone interested in the series should consider this the main source of info for now. So please spread the word.
Peas…
… & carrots

(I eat this carrot for you so that you will click on one or more of the social networking links below.)

I’ve already gotten a bunch of RSVPs, and half of them don’t have Screening in the subject or don’t include a full name as it appears on IDs. The first is important because I need to be able to sort these emails by subject line. I get other mail at this address. And the second is important cause that’s the name(s) I have to give the guard at the gate. Trust me when I say, those guards are sticklers.

haha, ok the yum carrot got me, I did click on the LIKE, and I will proceed to share it on FB. Awesome on the ‘soon as hell’ for the launching date! No can’t do on LA, NY or SF, but I’ll for sure be in Comic-Con
exciting!

I knew the carrot would be a pretty good draw. I went down to my fridge for a snack about 3/4 of the way through writing the piece. When I saw that delicious carrot, I realized it was gonna make an appearance in the post somehow.

Hey John, glad to hear that things are now on track for a start up. Thanks for the update. Three things though. The first is a suggestion and the other two are questions.
1. I’m assuming that like any product being marketed you want to have the largest audience to promote said product to. Obviously how the team decides to promote the series is up to them, but might I suggest that instead of making your blog “the main source of info” that the team stick to the Facebook page? Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem coming here but I do question how many people know about this page as opposed to the FB one. After all, the two trailers up on Youtube both have around 50,000 views, and on each of those trailers they direct people to the Facebook page, not here. Secondly, the Facebook page had, last time I checked, around 2500 likes. Speaking as a fan, it was kind of frustrating to check the FB page all the time and never see any updates until I finally found out about your twitter page and this blog. Anyways, just something to think about.
2. As far as the screenings go, are they going to be a number of short clips, or are they going to be showings of the full version of the series? I ask because the first time I read about the series the way it was promoted was as a web series which would only be around 3-4 minutes per episode, with over 30 episodes (or something like that). To my recollection, it was also described as something that could be viewed out of the original chronological order, so as to keep track with the story lines of individual characters. Very cool ideas, but just interested as to how a screening of something like this will occur.
3. Is Alexis Denisof still going to be in the series?
Anyways, best of luck.
Cheers.

Daniel, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Here are some answers for you.
First of all, you’re preaching to the choir. Notice how I leave comments on the Facebook page but don’t actually create any new posts? That’s because I don’t control the facebook page. Warner Brothers does… the marketing team, to be exact. The pace they’re going in regards to that page is influenced by their own strategy and work load… and part of making something like this at the studio level is respecting everyone’s process within that machine. So unfortunately, as much as I’d like to see that page come to life again too, there’s nothing I can do personally to make that happen.
I do, on the other hand, control this blog. And there’s plenty of information I can share with you guys here in regards to H+. As the series writer, I think my blog makes a nice little oasis for insider information, no? But as soon as the Facebook page comes to life again (and I feel pretty confident it will within the next week or two), this blog will no longer be the “main source of info”… and you can bet that I’ll make that very clear here in a post. But until that day comes, I’ve decided to share with fans of the series as much information as I’m permitted to share. Which is not all information, by the way. Again, I don’t want to damage anyone else’s work on this.
In terms of what we’ll be showing at the screening? Hmm. How to answer that. Well, there are a few different ways to experience the series, yes. And we’ll be presenting a couple of those at the screenings. Firstly, we’ll only be showing a portion of the entire series (about 1hr 30min). We want people to look forward to more after the screening. Most of what will be shown will have been edited into a version that feels more like watching a film. But we’ll also be showing a few short episodes so that people can get a sense for how this will be experienced online in its non linear fashion. And the director and I will talk about the different formats and our process in building this. So the event should be a little under a 2 hours.
And yes, Alexis is in the series. But as the trailer suggests, it’s also a very large ensemble. He’s wonderful in it… as are all the others!

Lol, should have figured there would be a reason for that. Didn’t know it was only WB who had control there. Must be frustrating at times. Thanks a lot for the quick and detailed answers and good luck at the screenings (fingers crossed).
