Okay, so here’s what’s going on. Me and a few Pilgrims are meeting up next Thursday to eat some stuffing and to tell each other how thankful we are not to be utterly alone on Thanksgiving.

Part of the deal is that we each have to be in charge of, not just bringing something… but making something. I have to stop here and say, there is a competitive spirit to some of the members of this group, myself included. I won’t name names, but I will say that one of the dudes has been known to cook up a rattlesnake at social gatherings.

Okay, you know what, screw it. It’s Sean Gunn. Sean has been known to cook up a rattlesnake, a reindeer, and last Thanksgiving he brought down the house with some crazy spinach and cheese stuffed heirloom tomatoes.

I want to obliterate him this year in the cooking department. Plain and simple. And so… I am calling upon the power of Social Media to help me do so.

I need recipes. Super creative and straight up award winning recipes.

How Can You Help? Check it…
If you have a Tumblr account, it’s very easy… simply tumble a recipe, something you think is off the chain. It can be something you found online… it can be a 100 year old family treasure. You can include pictures, video, links, whatever… just get that recipe mouth watering. Then (very important) tag the post pilgrimcabrera. I will reblog every post that is tagged with pilgrimcabrera and is a legit recipe. [UPDATE: It seems as though reblogs don't show up in Tumblr's sitewide "pilgrimcabrera" search, so if your contribution to pilgrimcabrera was a reblog of a recipe you found on Tumblr, let me know by sending me an @reply on Twitter, so I can find it in your stream.]

If you don’t have a Tumblr account, (or you do but don’t necessarily want to add a recipe to your Tumblr), you can submit your recipe here:

http://meme.johncabrera.com/submit

You can upload photos, video, post links, or just make it text. The pull down menu for the different types of posts is at the top of the submission form if you’re unfamiliar with it. And please make sure to include the credit you wish to receive at the bottom of the post. For example, if you’re a food blogger, you can put your website at the end of the post, your tumblr account, twitter, facebook, just your name, anything. I’ll be posting these quickly, so I won’t have time to edit them. Be sure they’re formatted the way you want.

[UPDATE: If you are worried about sharing your name and email address, I can tell you that neither will appear in the post. In fact, on my end, I don't even see the email address, so I guess that's just for Tumblr. The only thing that will appear in the post is the credit you give yourself (if any) at the end of it. But if you're stilly unsure, you can certainly submit a psuedonym as a name and a fake email address for email. Please don't let that deter you.]

These are the only two ways to submit, so please no Facebook or Twitter. I want to keep this very centralized so that it will be easy for me and others to browse the recipes later.

What Kind of Recipes?
Well anything really. Appetizers, desserts, main courses. I’ll consider it all. It is Thanksgiving, so you might want to use that as inspiration. Sean used the word “Autumnal” in his recent email about the event… if that gives you any idea what I’m up against.

But just so you know, I’m a pescatarian (the only animals I eat are fish and seafood). I’m not ruling out cooking meat or bird. But since I won’t be able to try it, I’m not really passionate about the idea, so it’s less likely. But that shouldn’t deter you if you have a killer penguin recipe you think will sway me. Like I said, I will post every real recipe. And since I hope this will become a resource for others, adding meat dishes to the mix is more than appropriate.

How Many Can You Submit?
As many as you’d like. Just submit them or tumble them separately. And try to go for brevity if you can. Tumblr favors short form. That doesn’t mean it needs to stay under one paragraph… just not an article.

If You Don’t Have a Recipe…
You can also just casually observe. That’s not a problem either. All of the posts will be tagged with ThanksRecipe, so you’ll be able to see them as they come in at http://meme.johncabrera.com/tagged/thanksrecipe

How Long Will You Have To Submit?
I’ll be choosing one or two recipes on Sunday. That way, I can go shopping and then do a test run. That should give me plenty of time to choose a different one if problems arise.

And then I’ll take pictures, maybe video, and post stuff on my blog. My hope is a picture of Sean in tears sitting next to a plate of… oh, I don’t know… untouched mongoose kebabs or something.

Please help me make this a reality.
