Mein erstes Interview auf Deutsch
Okay well, not totally in German… rather my first interview that was translated from English to German. Although I do crack off an “ich” and a “über” here and there.
Last week I was interviewed by the German entertainment & pop culture site myFanbase.de. If you can speak fluent German, they seem like they’d be the one-stop shop for all your fanboy & girl needs. They cover it all. A very impressive site.
And who knows… someday down the line, if I practice, I may be able to deliver them a full interview in German. One that’ll have to be translated into English. Wouldn’t that be something?
Anyway, in the interview I talk about a few memories from working on Gilmore Girls, my obsession with Lost, and why you may have seen some umlauts in my tweets lately.
Here’s a small excerpt from the original English version:
The name of that role (Brian Fuller) always reminds me of writer and producer Bryan Fuller (“Heroes”, “Pushing Daisies“). Do you know if the writers of “Gilmore Girls” wanted to make a reference to him?
I’ve actually been asked that a few times by fans of the show. But I don’t know for sure. Here’s what I do know, and maybe your readers can put the pieces together. I’m pretty sure Brian’s first name was inspired by… MORE>>
Ha! Come on now, you know I’m all about the cliff hangers.

Der Name dieser Rolle (Brian Fuller) erinnert mich immer an den Drehbuchautoren und Produzenten Bryan Fuller (“Heroes”, “Pushing Daisies”). Weißt du, ob die Autoren der “Gilmore Girls” auf ihn anspielen wollten?
Ich bin das ehrlich gesagt schon einige Male von Fans der Serie gefragt worden. Aber ich bin mir nicht sicher. Hier das, was ich weiß und evtl. können eure Leser die Stücke zusammen fügen. Ich bin sehr sicher, dass Brians Vorname von… MEHR>>

Good interview. I like that it pretty much encompassed all of your interests, or at least a lot of the current interests, versus just focusing on your GG role, which is sort of what I expected it to be considering the magazine is called myFanbase. Obviously the GG role was good times for you, but there’s a lot more to you and it’s good that the interview reflected that.
Way to flex that Deutsch too.

When I hear Brian Fuller, I always have to think about Fuller McCallister from Home Alone, the little guy who has bladder issues after to much coke…

Natasha, haha, I know you German fools love your White Sausage, but since I don’t eat meat I’m unfamiliar with that particular joy… unless of course “Gibt es jetzt Weisswurst?” is actually some sort of slang expression I don’t know.

Great interview! My favorite word in the German version? “gefuehlsduselig”.
talking about wurst and slang expressions, you might be happy to learn this one: “Es geht um die Wurst!” Know what that means?

Birge, dict.leo.org says the equivalent expreession is “It’s neck or nothing,” which is basically to risk it all for the win. Glad you liked the interview. It was fun to read my words later translated into German by the Interviewer.

Here in “Lower Saxony” the German Fools loves “curly kale with groats sausage” (*ISharpMyKnifesAndJumpInMyPigeonHole*)
