My winning The Lark was a fluke. I’ve enjoyed blogging here but I wouldn’t argue with anyone who felt it was a bit wasted on me. And that’s why I wanted to take these last two days to highlight the two Larkers who would have won had things gone down just a little differently.

AmrieToday I’m turning over the blog to Amrie (Code Name: @mytakeontv) who, if you didn’t know, is a friend of mine. In fact, I still feel a little bad about stealing the trophy away from her. There was some serious coveting going there. I’m kinda worried she’ll steal it back the next time she comes to visit…

Amrie, I blogged a lot about my childhood and moving around, etc. Tell us a little about yours.

I was born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, in October of 1982! My brother Dave was born in June of 1984, and my sister Mary (Brains) was born in December of 1985 (for those keeping score at home? Yep, 3 kids in 38 months). My dad was a kitchen designer; my mom worked at the hospital. We had a dog named Sam (for 17 years).

Amrie with her brother and sister. We grew up in the borough of Lansdale, until we decided to make the long move to the town next door, Hatfield (of “and McCoy”). Spent another 10 years there, before we moved back to Lansdale, and that’s where we stayed. Moved to my own place in ’06, spent 8 months in an apartment in North Wales (the town right next door on the other side), and now have an awesome condo in Lansdale Proper, again. My parents and siblings live less than a mile down the road, now they have a dog named Jazz (she’s INSANE and extremely overweight) and I wouldn’t change it for a minute (unless I win the lottery; then I’m hightailing it to the West Coast)!

What did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you ended up doing? These days… What would you like to be when you grow up?

I went through a wide variety of things that I wanted to be when I grew up: a doctor, a nurse, an elementary school teacher, a receptionist, an actress, (for about 3 months after the 1992 summer Olympics) a gymnast, a mechanic (because I once fixed the door to my mom’s van), a professional musician (still a dream), a biology teacher, a geneticist, and a music teacher, among a wide variety of other things. Never did I ever imagine that I would spend the last 9 years working market research, but that is where I am. Quantitative medical research – Amrie on a set visit in Miami.project manager for two very high profile clients, keeping an eye on the research process from creating the survey to implementing it, to following up with the analysis. I learn something new every day, so it can’t be too bad, right?

What do I want to be when I grow up? Rich enough to retire by 30. HA! But if I’m being totally honest, I would love to do something in the TV industry. Does that mean be a TV journalist or whatever, a professional blogger, who knows, but I think I’m funny, so I want to see what I can do with that.

So what are some of your favorite TV shows?

You guys all know that I watch like 50 hours of TV a week, right? Hard to believe that I would really only say that I have 5 current favorite TV shows – Friday Night Lights, Better Off Ted, Glee, Sons of Anarchy, and Lost (others are saying “5? Really? I have one, that’s it, crazy person.”). I love 24, The Big Bang Theory, Wednesday night ABC comedies (yep all of them), Thursday night NBC comedies, It’s Always Sunny, Archer (love it), Rescue Me, and Damages. Some all time favorites are Gilmore Girls, Just the 10 of Us, Dawson’s Creek, Veronica Mars, Arrested Development, Full House, Step by Step, Hangin’ With Mr Cooper (so really, any TGIF show, ever).

What’s one thing you resolved to do this year?

I resolved to be less judgmental of others this year. So far, not working for me, but I think I’m being less vocal about it, so maybe it’s better! I’ve also attempted to dance every day since January 1, and that’s definitely going well in the grand scheme of things.

What are some websites you really enjoy?

Amrie out to dinner with her TV blogger friends.I have like 65 sites in my Google Reader – my own site (pimpage!) MyTakeOnTV.com, Rae’s site, Give Me My Remote, DuckyDoesTV, TheTVAddict, Seat42f (are you sensing a theme)? Also on there – John’s site, my good friend Hadley’s site; I love CakeWrecks and Zooborns. I’m on TVGuide and EW throughout the day. Pandora is awesome, and I love Web Paint-By-Number when I get bored!

If you had one day to guest blog on John’s blog, what would you blog about?

Rae suggested “Amrie’s guide to stalking someone online”; I don’t think I’m ready to share my secrets! But seriously, when I travel (and I’ve been doing a lot of that lately), I tend to fixate on my favorite restaurants, and then recommend them to death. I would love the opportunity to spend one day traveling to my favorite cities (Rae thinks it’s possible to do without time travel), enjoying some of my favorite foods that I’ve had around the country. Or at least, in a few top cities. I’d love to blog about a trip that starts in Lansdale and heads to NYC for lunch before getting LA for dinner, and SD for drinks!

Free question! Tell us anything!

Amrie's worst nightmare!I am terribly afraid of deer. Like haltingly, shockingly afraid of them. I pass them while driving and I am more than a little bit unable to breathe, and it’s not good.

Ok, so you kicked ass with your Lark picks, any advice for future Larkers?

Any advice… I am not sure what method I really used to pick my choices this season. I paid attention to the judges in the audition weeks, to see who they picked on, who they really liked, and I just kind of went with my gut. As much as I didn’t think they’d let all the tappers go before Week 3 because of how much Nigel loved them, I had to go with what I thought the viewers would want!

Pimp yourself. Where else online can people find you?

I chat with Rae every week for our podcast at TVTimesThree and I blog as often as possible on MyTakeOnTV. You can always find me on Twitter @mytakeontv and on Thursday nights, I chat on TVTalkRadio with Shaun Daily (fellow podcaster Jason chats with me, too)!
