Morning (Afternoon, Evening, pick your poison), everyone! Marivic aka sorono916 here. So, I’m “taking over” John’s blog. Okay, not really but I guess that I’ll be posting a few things here and there.

So, some things about myself.

I was born in the Philippines but moved soon afterwards to the US with my family. I grew up in a small Floridian town between Tampa and Orlando. I graduated high school in 2004. I moved up to my current location, Washington D.C., where I attended American University for my Bachelors’ in Business Administration- Marketing and Public Communications as well as my Master’s in Public Communications. I also studied at George Washington University for their Event Management Certificate Program. I’m doing what most college graduates are doing: job searching.

I currently work part-time as a personal assistant and I also do contract work as a screening rep and sometimes as event staff. Working as a personal assistant isn’t bad when you have a really easy-going boss like I do. There haven’t been any ridiculous requests ala “Devisl Wears Prada.” Considering how much I love movies, it’s nice to be paid to watch them than having to pay $10+. Only downside would be seeing a film too many times that you end up hating it even though it’s actually good (looking at you Julie & Julia). Current “Must Watch Movies” of 2009: (500) Days of Summer, Away We Go, The Hurt Locker. All three are amazing and y’all should check them out.

Career-wise, I would love to work in the entertainment industry as a publicist, agency or studio, or maybe even an agent. Right now, though, it’s all about finding the first full-time job, but it’s been proven difficult with the current job market. Just a head’s up: although I live in the Nation’s Capital, I’m not a politically minded person. So, if you wanted discussion about health care or bank ballouts, I’m not your gal.

That being said, I’ve lived in the District for about five years so beside some random entries about movies and/or television shows, I’ll be mostly blogging about DC and some interesting places in the area. All the pictures in the rotating header are from DC.

Well, that’s it. I’m still trying to figure out this blog, so my apologies in advance for any mishaps. If y’all have any questions, feel free to ask, I’ll be happy to answer.
