‘Sup Folks(ingers)

[warning: this post is not about folk singers.]

They say all good things that come must go… that the silver lining we rely on for optimism is eventually removed and melted down… they say you don’t know what you’ve got until someone tells you… and even then, they could be lying…….

They say all of that…. yes… and more….

….. so it’s with this in mind that we bid adieu to our awesome guest blogger Marivic Tagala (@sorano916) winner of SYTYCD-FDL Season 5. She rocked it out here at johncabrera.com during the months of August/September, with her Navy Yards, her Filipino delicacies, and Clooneys galore. So she will forever hold a place of distinction here. (If you missed any of her posts, check’em out.)

Last Dance with Mary Jane

Random… Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ video of “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” is probably the earliest music video that I remember; it came out when I was 8 so the fact that I remember it is actually pretty weird. Not Gone…

So, since John’s still away, I can still play. ;)

Just for a little bit, anyways. I wanted to do a post like this but completely forgot so yay! Now, I can.

That’s what happens when you’re currently looking for a full-time job; you tend to have a lot of free time on your hands. :D Maybe eventually I can polish that spec script that I have…

Anyways, here are the list of shows that I look forward to:

No Day but Today

So, I believe that today is my last day of guest blogging. I hope that I gave you some interesting tidbits, here and there, about myself, Washington, DC, and other things. Heh… anyways, this is kind of a free-for-all post so bear with me, ‘kay? ;)

1. POINTERS FOR DC TOURISTS

This first point is very important and it is the most unspoken rule of DC:

When you’re on an escalator, especially going down/up to the Metro, stand on the right and walk on the left. Even if you’re talking to the people in front of you, on the side of you, move so that you’re standing on the right. If you have a group of 20 people, make them all stand on the right. I’ve never been to any city where this rule is so important but it is. Many people commute via the Metro and many are in a rush, so they’ll get angry if you’re standing on the left side. So please, please, if you don’t get anything out of this post, just remember this. :)

Onward to other pointers…
