Monetizing the Tweet

Okay so the first change my Twitter page got was the little “definitions”. They pointed to Twitter’s own services: Search and… man, I can’t remember now… the Twitter blog?

Anyway, then I got those awesome “more” buttons at the bottom of all my streams.

And now those little “definitions” have subtly changed into ads for select apps. Including one for a service they’ve partnered with: Exectweets.

Tumblr…………….

This weekend I finally decided to start playing around with Tumblr.

Um……….. can I just say… awesome?

Awesome.

Thank you for letting me say that.

I’ve had an account for a while, but I guess it was all the #sxsw tweets about Tumblr this and Tumblr that and “someone’s doing mad headspins on the Tumblr party dancefloor”… I had to see what all the fuss was about.

Lost Commune

Today I was having this conversation with a friend about “community”. How it’s shaped religion, art, pop culture, and of course the Internet; and how social deprivation in a culture will always lead to some kind of backlash; some alternative form of communal interaction. It’s a little passé, I know; to point out that we’re social animals and all that.

But it’s strange, cause this has actually been a theme in a few of my “on” and “offline” chats lately. I’m not really sure how to link together what I’m thinking here, but the bottom line is I’m really fascinated by it. I guess I’ve always been.

And I think that’s one of the reasons I’ve been loving Lost so much… and doing these Lost posts lately.
